Native Rhubarb

Rhubarb originated in Asia and was traditionally used for medicinal purposes until about 250 years ago when we started cooking and baking with it.  It is also usually considered a vegetable, but the US considers it a fruit.  Pair rhubarb with strawberries, apples, pears, raspberries, raisins, ginger, and cinnamon.  Note: Do not consume the poisonous roots and leaves.  Currently from Wilson Farm in Lexington, Massachusetts.

Fresh Pappardelle Pasta

Using homemade Italian recipes handed down for generations, Maria’s Pasta creates consistent and quality pastas in Malden, Massachusetts.  Their reputation is built upon small batch production that allows them to monitor and ensure perfection in every product they make, every time they make it. The pappardelle is made from semolina flour and cut 18” long.

Quince

This golden fruit resembles a large, lumpy pear with a musky, tropical smell.  Quince flesh is white with a sour taste that develops a pink color and apple pear flavor when cooked.  Since it is naturally high in pectin, quince makes fantastic jams, jellies, conserves, fruit leather, and candy.

Sweet Pea Ravioli

Cucina della Cucina pasta is hand made with fresh, quality ingredients.  The ravioli skin is made from dough rolled thin only to encase its plentiful filling.  The raviolis are never precooked and taste like something you would create in your own kitchen.  Sweet pea filling seasoned with lemon zest and tarragon wrapped in a fresh egg pasta that becomes translucent when cooked. Great as a vegetarian entrée, appetizer or main dish accompaniment.

Vidalia Onions

Known for their sweet, mild flavor and crisp, juicy texture, Vidalia onions are one of the few UScrops with a legally protected production region.  Originating in Georgiain the 1930’s, they are its official state vegetable.  Vidalia onions have a high water and sugar content and should be handled carefully to avoid bruising.  They can be grilled, fried, baked, or chilled and served raw.  Vidalia onions are harvested from April through June.

Capri Goat Feta

The goats have begun milking with the warm spring weather and we now have Capri Goat Feta back in stock! Westfieldfarm in Hubbardston,MA has been handcrafting award winning cheeses since 1971.  Capri Goat Feta is made the old world way with whole goat milk and is lightly pressed before being hand salted, and then submerged in brine for 4-6 weeks.  The finished product is creamy, yet crumbly with a tangy, salty bite.  Use in salads and wraps, pair with fresh fruit.
